Ice cold feet and hands dry, lips chapped and nails brittle, unforgiving nights and biting cold mornings. Despite all the hardships that every species on this planet has to endure during this season called βWinterβ, (as opposed to itβs harsh characteristics) there is rather something, utterly healing about it, something quite compassionate & gentle, veiled under the depths of snow covered forests and cold frosts hovering in the air. βοΈ π
While animals hibernate and stay tucked in with their young babies, Mother Nature is in repose, slumbering after a long enervating year, preparing for yet another fine and fecund spring , with a whole splash of vivid colors, so delightful! And just as the environment functions, to my mind, we humans arenβt any different either. Each passing year, as the new year starts off , we plunge right in with all sorts of commitments, pledges and resolutions, oftentimes.. considering ourselves to be an extraordinary Superhuman, only to find ourselves completely burnt out by the end of the year, both mentally & physically. π―
Yes! Winters can be extremely harsh, long and severe & for some.. lonely too. But the same last inclement gives us an opportunity to stay indoors and slow down a bit, to take a breather and revitalize our senses, it brings together family and friends to enjoy a warm meal together and share some love and laughter. It gives grandchildren a reason to visit their grandparents to enjoy a hot cuppa tea together and most especially, it grants us all, quite a decent amount of time to self reflect & appreciate others and ourselves too.

Grannyβs wrinkly hands, a heartwarming nostalgia. π°π¬

Growing up in a place where winters can be tremendously tough, even as a lilβ kid, Iβve always gravitated quite daringly towards this rhythm of the season, perhaps discerning the nuances and magic it had to render, permeating a young girlβs curious mind with big dreams, fantasy & imaginations, while she longed for a sweet hopeful spring. And today as I pen down my thoughts, I realize how crucial it is for every being, young or as a grown up, in a countryside or in the city, to take time to slow up a bit, to sit back and relax and to thank yourself every once in a while for not only sustaining through this thing called βlifeβ, but for shining through bright with kind intentions in your heart. πΊβ¨
As humans, it is in our very nature, to want to achieve things that we desire, to want more, to thrive and live life as we wish to, and thatβs absolutely fine! Yet, incorporating gratitude, compassion, and mindfulness in our daily lives allows us to see whatβs beyond the object/thing that lies in front of us. Additionally, it changes our perspective, the way we treat others and the environment, and above all – the way we treat ourselves. πΏπ€
As we walk into February, that time of the year when we eagerly anticipate the warmer weather as the temperatures drop dramatically. My dear friends, do stay put & cosy.. for very soon, we shall be able to witness the little buds bursting open into paradisiacal gardens π¦ & until then, let us at-least try.. to treasure the heartbreakingly beautiful moon light & bitter cold nights when the stars shine the brightest. ππ
Sending you all warmth, love and light. ππ«
