What is the one thing that made you happy today? Something that made you feel good about yourself and brought you a warm fuzzy feeling for no reason. โ˜บ๏ธ

Okay! Let me go first ~ ๐Ÿฅฐ This morning, as I was on my desk working, there was a sudden pitter-patter noise coming from the balcony outside. I stood up and walked towards the balcony and drew open the light chiffon curtains that covered the window ๐ŸชŸ and guess what? It was the sound of the rain hitting the surface of my balconyโ€™s metal rail. ๐ŸŒง

To give you a little context, I am currently living in the Middle East. Not only is it scorching hot here but also thereโ€™s no sign of rain for months. And when thereโ€™s a rainfall, it usually lasts for about 5 mins or so. I grew up in a place where I was always surrounded by abundance of greens and all sorts of natureโ€™s goodness. ๐ŸŽ‹ It rained quite often and sometimes so much so that landslides became a major problem during the monsoons. ๐Ÿ”

We live in a world quite ironic & sometimes a bit difficult to comprehend, where nothing is ever utterly adequate according to our wishes. Yet as time follows, I am learning that focusing less on the drawbacks and limitations only opens doors to the things that were earlier befogged by our unending wants and desires. Every so often, when we canโ€™t change much about the situation, no matter how big or small it is, perhaps changing our perspective might help..isnโ€™t it? ๐Ÿ˜Š

And yes! While this 5 minutes of rain in my second home city is rather too short for a rain child like me, I did make sure to feel the rain drops playfully hitting my fingertips and as I slowly looked up.. bringing my focus towards the teeny tiny rain droplets that fell down in perfect order ~ it seemed as if it were some sort of heavenโ€™s symphony. ๐ŸŒง ๐ŸŽถ

After soaking up all the goodness of this unpremeditated moment, I took a deep sigh of joy & gratefulness and returned back to my desk to continue working. ๐Ÿ“ Soon after, I realized how this tiny little episode had uplifted my mood. I automatically felt recharged and energized, ready to take on the day in a good spirit. โœจ

I know that when I feel energetic, I find it much easier to behave in ways that make me happy. I respond positively, I am more patient when learning, I am a good team player, I take time to stack the dishes neatly in the dishwasher, I donโ€™t get upset when my husband calls me saying that heโ€™s forgotten his car keys after reaching the parking lot, I have the perseverance to try out a new recipe which seems quite daunting otherwise. The very smallest of changes can make the biggest difference for us and pausing once in a while to just be there.. in the moment can do wonders for us.๐ŸŒˆ

.. the opportunity to do good work, to enjoy friends and family, to paint your toe nails, to sit under the trees, to enjoy the sun and the rain, to fall in love, to really listen when others speak, to accept your vulnerability and make peace with it, to say sorry, to gently iron your freshly laundered shirt, to take a walk into the woods, to soak your feet in the sandy shore, to thank often, to acknowledge people, to treat everyone as equal, to read, to carefully dust your guitar/piano, to play hide and seek with the children and to put your device away for a minute and really enjoy that cup of heart warming tea.. little things like that. ๐ŸŒฟ

Over the years, the meaning of happiness to me has evolved tremendously. And while Iโ€™m still learning and still becoming, today the term happiness to me emerges as the first principle of my life. At this moment, happiness to me defines well being, physically and mentally. I believe itโ€™s a choice for those who wisely pursue but I also have learnt that itโ€™s not automatic. Moment by moment, hour by hour, we are choosing happiness incrementally. Since our world is such a complex and sophisticated place to be, I too am living with my own share of struggles and worries. However, I always try and seek for inspiration through my wee lens of daily occurrences and on awfully cloudy days.. I try to create my own ๐Ÿช„.

Rising every morning with appreciation, making time to exercise, catching up with a friend, keeping my home clean, decluttering my space, listening to good music and spending wisely are some of the things that makes me feel good about myself. How about you? What are the things that you incorporate in your daily life that brightens up your mood? ๐ŸŒž

By now, I am pretty certain that you can think of many things that made you happy today right? ๐Ÿฅฐ It definitely feels much easier to embrace a conscious living when we notice the grace and blessings that is exclusively found in the ordinary. ๐ŸŽ

With each passing day, may we continue to discover little treasures of warmth and happiness everyday and everywhere. May we all have the benevolence to recognize the inherent beauty of our lives. ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’•
